Last week blew us away! Every room was running at high energy levels! Thank you so much to Brandon, John, Matthew and Floyd for sharing your stories and giving insight to the parents and students in the Careers Room. YES! We had students asking these amazing Virtual Reality/Gaming/Animation professionals how to get started in their fields.
There are so many fantastic rooms lined up this week. We are predicting that people will be changing rooms to participate in all the great discussions. Thank you to the amazing facilitators in the Hispanic and Arab rooms. The energy you bring to Virtual ParentCamp is inspiring! The Arab room will be continuing their discussion revolving around the book “The 5 Languages of Children.”
We have a special treat in the Designing for Equity Room. Rachel Merlo of Google Fiber will be joining the room. We met Rachel during our first Industry Camp in Kansas City. Those joining in this room will love picking Rachel’s brain on how she and Google Fiber and their community partners are tackling the lack of access to internet for families.
This week in the Careers Room we have three amazing women who lead organizations in the non-profit sector. Did you know the non-profit sector is the 3rd largest employer? The non-profit sector is the perfect place for someone who has a passion and purpose to serve others. Please share and encourage students to join and talk to these inspring women!
And last but not least, we are very exciting to have Ulcca Joshi Hansen joining us from Boundless. Boundless is a new organization which is on the fore-front of re-imagining education. We encourage you to visit their website and join one of the A New Way Forward: Building a Learner-Centered Future summits which is pushing the transformation of education from the ground up. ParentCamp was honored to present our Virtual ParentCamp model at the very first summit. We know the way to transform education is to INTEGRATE family-school-community for collective efficacy.
